Sara Lindsay Hawn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hawn of Dallas, TX, will perform a solo voice recital on April 7, 1998 at 7 pm at Mary Baldwin University. The recital is part of the requirements for music majors. Ms. Hawn is a senior at Mary Baldwin and has been named to the Dean’s and Honors Lists.
Ms. Hawn recently performed, along with two other singing groups from Mary Baldwin University, at the Carysbrook Performing Arts Center in Palmyra, VA. These performances were a part of the Fluvanna Arts Council’s ‘Tea and Trumpets’ Music Series.
Ms. Hawn is one of three students who will graduate with a degree in music in May. These students are the first in several years to graduate from the college with a degree in music. The major was reinstated last year.
Mary Baldwin University, founded in 1842, is a four-year liberal arts women’s college, located in Staunton, VA. The oldest women’s college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA, Mary Baldwin was the first women’s college in the United States to be granted a circle of the national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa. The college also has a chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
