Community Invited to Forum on Rehabilitation & Punishment

The Staunton Coalition on Race Relations will sponsor a Community Forum titled “Doing Time: Rehabilitation and Punishment” in Mary Baldwin University’s Francis Auditorium on Tuesday, October 26, at 7:00 p.m. Francis Auditorium is located in the Pearce Science Center at the corner of Coalter and Frederick Streets in Staunton.

Dr. David M. Cary, professor, sociology at Mary Baldwin and Bernard Levine, professor of psychology and head of the administration of justice department at Blue Ridge Community College, will lead the discussion.

The forum will address the state of penal corrections and discuss the impact of the loss of funding for education and training programs for prisoners, loss of voting privileges for felons in Virginia and other states, and the high percentage of black males in prison.
