Shakespeare on Your Feet at Mary Baldwin

February 3, 2000

Shenandoah Shakespeare Express will present a workshop called “Shakespeare on Your Feet” on Wednesday, February 9, 4:00 – 5:50 p.m. in Mary Baldwin University’s Hunt Lounge. The event is free and open to the public.

Participants will explore the dynamic of performing Shakespeare, rather than just reading the text, by taking a line or a short exchange between characters and executing a variety of vocal, physical, and emotional exercises designed to make the text come alive.

The SSE will help dispel the “difficult” and “boring” myth of Shakespeare by encouraging participants to be up on their feet – speaking, shouting, and singing – as they learn how to make Shakespeare’s language their own.
