Irene Sarnelle, assistant professor of heath and physical education at Mary Baldwin University, will offer free workshops featuring Victorian-era dances for the upcoming Staunton Victorian Ball that will be held at the end of April.
The workshops will be on Thursday, April 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., in the dance studio at the Mary Baldwin Physical Activities Center. Sarnelle will teach waltz, schottische, two-step, and polka, as well as quadrille figures, reels and German cotillion. No previous dance experience necessary.
The Staunton Victorian Ball will be held on Saturday, April 29, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind Ballroom. Tickets are $20/each.
