The Mary Baldwin University Choir will present their annual Spring Concert on Monday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick Street, Staunton. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Mary Baldwin Choir, an ensemble of 38 women, will present compositions in a wide range of styles and periods including pieces by Mozart, Randall Thompson, Felix Mendelssohn, William Dawson, and Aaron Copland. Their presentation will conclude with a performance of Josef Reinberger’s Mass in A, which will be accompanied by chamber orchestra.
Members of the choir comprise two other Mary Baldwin student ensembles who will also perform at the event. The Madrigal Singers will perform a cappella music for small vocal ensemble and Baldwin Charm will sing a cappella arrangements of contemporary pop, barbershop and vocal jazz standards.
In addition to their annual tour, the Mary Baldwin Choir participates in concerts on campus at Founder’s Day, Christmas Cheer and with other visiting colleges. The group is directed by Curtis Nolley and is accompanied by Deborah McGuire, adjunct assistant professor of music.
