Candlelight March for Peace and Justice

The ninth annual Candlelight March for Peace and Justice will be held Monday, January 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Augusta Street United Methodist Church, located at 325 N. Augusta Street, Staunton. The community is invited to participate.

The march, which coincides with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and is held in his memory, is sponsored by the Staunton chapter of the NAACP, Mary Baldwin University’s Office of African-American Affairs and Multicultural Understanding, and the Mary Baldwin University Department of Philosophy and Religion.

The march through the streets of Staunton will be followed by a service at Augusta Street United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. The service will feature several speakers and musical performances by the Al Hamilton Mass Choir and Mary Baldwin’s Anointed Voices of Praise.

In the event of inclement weather, the snow date will be Monday, January 22.
