Marking Martin Luther King Day, the 12th annual Candlelight March for Peace and Justice will be Monday, January 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church at Lewis and Beverley streets, Staunton. The public is invited to participate.
The event is sponsored by the Staunton chapter of the NAACP, Mary Baldwin University’s Office of African American Affairs and Multicultural Understanding, and the college’s Department of Philosophy and Religion.
The march will be followed by a service at Central United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. The service will feature several speakers and musical performances by the Al Hamilton Mass Choir and Mary Baldwin’s Anointed Voices of Praise and Ministry of Dance.
