Guitarist Greg Brown in Sunday Recital Series

MaryBaldwin College’s Sunday Recital Series continues with guitarist Greg Brown,Sunday, October 19, at 3 p.m. in Francis Auditorium in Pearce Science Centerat Coalter and Frederick streets in Staunton. The program will include worksby Ferdinando Carulli, Nicolo Paganini, Yoquijiro Yochoh, Juan Serrano andBrown.

Performer, composer, and recording artist, Brown picked up the guitar in 1982,and since then it has shaped his life. After playing in metal and rock bandsin the Eighties and early Nineties, Brown turned his attention to classicalguitar. There he found a new level of creative freedom and an intimacy withthe instrument that had been covered by the effects and amplification of electricguitar.

Brown is a member of the Charlottesville Classical Guitar Society, the GuitarFoundation of America, and the Society of Composers Inc. He teaches guitarat Mary Baldwin University, privately, and at The Covenant School in Charlottesville.Brown’s compositions are available through Productions D’Oz.
