Mary Baldwin Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”

Staunton, VA — Merry women, jealous men, lovesick persons, and disguised characters — William Shakespeare is up to his best comic tricks in “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” Journey back to 18th century Staunton, Virginia with Mary Baldwin Theatre’s hilarious production of Shakespeare’s “citizen’s comedy.”

This production brings to life familiar Shakespearean characters in the new venue of 1760’s Staunton. With period costumes by Reiko Ishikawa, this performance concentrates on the fabulously funny and outrageously genuine characters that make up this comical romance of the middle classes.

Directed by Mary Baldwin professor Dr. Virginia Francisco and produced by Mary Baldwin professor Terry Southerington, “The Merry Wives of Windsor” will tickle the funny bone and satisfy Shakespeare-lovers and novices alike.The trickery and snickers begin at 8 p.m. Nov. 19-22 with a 2 p.m. matinee Nov. 23. All five shows are at Mary Baldwin’s Fletcher Collins Theatre in Deming Hall.
