Sarah Kennedy, assistant professor of English at Mary Baldwin University, has helped edit a collection of contemporary poetry published recently by the University of Virginia Press, which describes it as “broad and various as Virginia itself.”
The book, Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets of Virginia, was published September 30 and is also edited by R.T. Smith, editor of Shenandoah magazine at Washington and Lee University. The book features such poets as Rita Dove, Nikki Giovanni, Dan Stryk, Ross Taylor, and Charles Wright.
Kennedy, an award-winning poet, is the author of Double Exposure, Flow Blue, and From The Midland Plain.
