Take Back The Night: Speech, March, Speak-Out, Film

October 16, 2003

Mary Baldwin University and New Directions Center, a Staunton shelter for battered women, invite the community to join them Thursday, October 30, to ‘Take Back The Night.’

Speaker Jeanine Woodruff from Virginian Aligned Against Sexual Assault will start the event at 6 p.m. on Page Terrace in front of Grafton Library. Following the speech will be a march around campus and then a speak-out in the Nuthouse, a student gathering place, on the first floor of Hunt Dining Hall.

At 8 p.m., the film The Accused will be shown in Francis Auditorium in Pearce Science Center. The film stars Jodie Foster in her Academy Award-winning role of a woman who is raped and must struggle to bring her assailants to justice.

Sponsoring the event are the resident advisor staff of Mary Baldwin University, the Baldwin Program Board, and New Directions Center.
