Sunday Recital Series at Mary Baldwin

Melissa Sumner, Greg Brown, and Linda Heuer will be the next to perform in Mary Baldwin University’s Sunday Recital Series, Sunday, January 23, at 3 p.m. in Francis Auditorium in Pearce Science Center at Coalter and Frederick streets in Staunton.

Melissa Sumner, soprano, has appeared widely in opera, oratorio, and in recital. A native of Christiansburg, Virginia, she is a graduate of Emory and Henry College. Sumner is on the music faculty at Mary Baldwin University as well as the Valley Music Academy.

Greg Brown, guitar, is a performer, composer, and recording artist. After playing in metal and rock bands in the Eighties and early Nineties, Brown turned his attention to classical guitar. Brown is a member of the Charlottesville Classical Guitar Society, the Guitar Foundation of America, and the Society of Composers Inc. He teaches guitar at Mary Baldwin University, privately, and at The Covenant School in Charlottesville.

Linda Heuer is the accompanist to the Mary Baldwin Choir and adjunct instructor of music. She has served as an accompanist at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competitions, and has a private studio. Heuer has a BMus from the University of Michigan School of Music and a MA from Eastern Michigan University.
