SunTrust Gift Helps Rose Terrace

September 8, 2005

SunTrust Bank, a longtime supporter of Mary Baldwin University, has made one of the first major donations to fund renovation of Rose Terrace, a Mary Baldwin University building that appears on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. The $25,000 gift was facilitated by Greg Godsey, market president of the Augusta/ Rockbridge area of SunTrust, and will allow work to begin soon on the 150-year-old building, said Judy Grey, Mary Baldwin corporate and foundation gifts officer. The renovation plan calls for exterior repair and historically accurate renovation to take place first, followed by upgrades to the building’s interior.

SunTrust Bank sponsors a $2,500 annual scholarship for a business student at Mary Baldwin from Staunton or surrounding counties. The company has also made an annual gift to the college for several years and contributed to special projects, such as the Center for the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted.
