Sumner and Heuer to Perform at Mary Baldwin

Mary Baldwin University’s Sunday Recital Series presents soprano Melissa Sumner and pianist Linda Gamble Heuer on Sunday, April 2. The concert will feature works by Donizetti, Mozart, Dvorak, and Sondheim.

Melissa Sumner, soprano, has appeared widely in opera, oratorio, and recital. A native of Christiansburg, Virginia, she is a graduate of Emory and Henry College. Sumner is on the music faculty at Mary Baldwin University as well as Valley Music Academy.

Linda Gamble Heuer is the accompanist to the Mary Baldwin Choir and adjunct instructor of music. She has served as an accompanist for National Association of Teachers of Singing Competitions, and also has a private studio. Heuer has a BMus from University of Michigan School of Music and a MA from Eastern Michigan University.

The performance will be at 3 p.m. on April 2 in Mary Baldwin University’s Francis Auditorium at the corner of Coalter and Frederick streets, Staunton. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $4 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at Blue Mountain Coffees, Bookstack, or at the door. For more information, call 887-7294.
