Mary Baldwin University’s Sunday Recital Series continues with the Gee-Mackey Duo of cello and piano Sunday, October 29. The concert will feature works by Chopin, Brahms, and Beethoven.
The Gee-Mackey Duo was formed in 2004. Cellist, David Gee, and pianist, Lynne Mackey have toured as soloists in the United States as well as internationally. The Duo recently completed a tour of several venues in Palm Beach area including Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Palm Beach Internationals Recital Series.
Gee has performed as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral cellist in America, Europe, and Africa and has given radio broadcasts on National Public Radio and Spanish National Radio. He has taught at Yale University, University of North Carolina, Coastal Carolina University, and University of Memphis. Gee is principal cellist for the Augusta, Georgia Symphony.
Mackey has performed in solo and chamber music settings in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands, and she is currently on the tour roster of the Virginia Commission for the Arts. She has taught on the faculties of James Madison University, Hollins University, University of Virginia, and Bluefield College. She currently teaches at Mary Baldwin and University of Mary Washington.
The performance will be at 3 p.m. on September 24 in Mary Baldwin University’s Francis Auditorium at the corner of Coalter and Frederick streets, Staunton.
