A Holiday Invocation

December 7, 2006

At the final meeting before the holidays, faculty and staff gave silent thanks as Edward Scott, interim dean of the colege, offered the following prayer. Scott was accompanied on piano by Mary Baldwin President Pamela Fox for a touching performance.

Gracious God,

Holy is thy name in all the earth. Open, here and now, the kingdom of heaven and then may your will abide for Mary Baldwin and her family.

Bless, we pray, this reserve of foxes, hedgehogs, and squirrels. But give us this day our daily bread. Grant us the blessing of table talk that shares the wealth of laughter. Endow our friendships and our fellowship with a loyalty that redeems our trespasses.

May we be forgiven. May we forgive.

And save us in the hour of our distress, quicken our will for the good and unto you be all power, honor and glory.
