Louise Rossett McNamee, Class of 1970, sets the strategic direction for prominent campaigns as an international advertising executive, but none has been as personally significant as the one she and husband, Peter McHugh, are leading by example with recent gifts and pledges to Mary Baldwin University that will total $1.12 million. Their meaningful commitment was announced to the college community today during college President Pamela Fox’s State of the College address, in which she detailed recent accomplishments and outlined future goals of the college in relation to its inspirational 10-year strategic plan, Composing Our Future.
The McNamee/McHugh funds will provide scholarship endowments and unrestricted support to advance the college’s short and long-term goals.
“Peter and I believe in the future of Mary Baldwin. The kind of personalized, liberal education Mary Baldwin provides enables women to make a difference in the world. That our gift can help access this caliber of college experience for even a few of Mary Baldwin’s deserving and diverse women is enormously rewarding,” McNamee said.
Chair of the Mary Baldwin University Board of Trustees since July 2004, McNamee has given back to the college many years. She was a Smyth Leadership Lecturer, Commencement speaker in 1985 and 2004, and has hosted college events at her home in New York City. McNamee has served on the Board of Trustees for more than 15 years.
The annual State of the College address includes specific and newsworthy information about measurable outcomes and recent successes as well as defined goals for this academic year.
