Statement from President Pamela Fox on the Earthquake in Japan

March 11, 2011

In the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan earlier today, on behalf of the entire Mary Baldwin University community I extend sincerest sympathy, best wishes, and heartfelt concern to our friends, colleagues, students, and alumnae whose lives are affected by this natural disaster. To our sister institution Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts and our friends at Tokyo Jogakkan College, Kansai Gaidai University, and Soka University; to our alumnae living in Japan; to the Japanese students currently studying on our campus and their families at home — we wish you a swift recovery from both the physical and the human toll you suffer today and wish to extend whatever help it is in our power to provide.

Mary Baldwin University cherishes its longstanding relationship with the people of Japan. We are deeply saddened at the losses you have sustained, and are with you today in spirit.
