September 27, 2011

A free public jazz concert by international quartet Nicole Metzger and New York Connection will take place at Mary Baldwin University on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in Francis Auditorium.

Nicole Metzger and New York Connection

This international quartet features the established piano/bass collaboration of Michael Jefry Stevens and Joe Fonda (The Fonda/Stevens Group), the inventive percussion stylings of drummer Harvey Sorgen, and German vocalist Nicole Metzger. Their debut CD was recorded in 2002 in New York City and their latest CD, That’s What I Want to Do, was recorded in Koln, Germany in December 2010 and just released in March 2011. The quartet performs a mixture of original compositions and distinctive arrangements of jazz standards.

The concert is made possible by the Statewide Program of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. It is also supported by Mary Baldwin’s Departments of Art, Art History, and Music.
