The Sunday Recital Series at Mary Baldwin University continues with an exciting program of Russian music performed by pianist Lynne Mackey. The performance is January 22 at 3 p.m. in Francis Auditorium. Mackey has chosen a wonderful selection of works by Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Medtner, Stravinsky, and Rachmaninoff.
Mackey has performed in solo and chamber music settings throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa. She also tours as an artist for the Virginia Commission of the Arts. A member of the faculty at Eastern Mennonite University, she is a frequent performer in the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival.
Mackey is an active performer of contemporary music, and her performances of new works for piano include three New York premiers. She also performs as part of the Gee-Mackey duo for cello and piano and has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Grand Rapids and Flint Symphonies in Michigan, as well as with the Lynchburg Symphony and other orchestras in Virginia. Mackey holds degrees from Eastman, the University of Michigan, and the Juilliard School.
