Mary Baldwin Administrator Passes Away

August 15, 2012

A Message From Mary Baldwin University President Pamela Fox:

With great sadness I write to convey that Dr. Brenda Bryant, who courageously fought breast cancer with her characteristic strength and spirit, died this morning.

Dr. Bryant was the founding director of the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership and most recently served as dean of students and senior vice president for enrollment management and administration. For 18 years she was a remarkable administrator, beloved colleague, inspired teacher, mentor, role model, creative partner, and friend to many in our Mary Baldwin family. She was invaluable to this community and leaves with us her legacy of commitment. She has left each of us gifts that we will cherish and continue to draw upon.

We celebrate her remarkable life. Her family has not yet determined how they will best commemorate Brenda’s life, but the college will be planning a celebration in her honor and will let everyone know when we have details.
