Faculty and Staff Wellness

MBU faculty and staff can access numerous resources and opportunities designed to support your health and well-being. Please find information below on Mary Baldwin’s Well by Choice program; Anthem’s confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP); WebMD’s well-being portal; and more.

Wellness Incentives

Wellness Incentives

Through a voluntary program offered to MBU’s faculty and staff, full-time faculty and staff on MBU’s health plan may qualify for a quarterly incentive for engagement in health programming, and receive discounts on your health insurance premiums. To participate, you must engage in a designated number of approved wellness activities, programs, check-ups, etc. every quarter of the year. Spouses and significant others are also eligible to participate. Members may choose to stop participating at any time.

Watch for updates on wellness incentives in the monthly MBU newsletter.

EAP

Anthem’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Please remember that MBU offers its faculty and staff confidential support through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) managed through an independent division of Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

EAP services specifically benefit and support all adults (18 or older) in each household for various needs, including mental health, financial and legal support, child/eldercare guidance, identity theft recovery, and daily life resources.

You can also access confidential counseling that does not first require a mental health diagnosis. Participate virtually or select in-person counseling when available. The program provides five pre-paid sessions per support need.

These services are available for you and the members of your household 24/7. Covered services are provided without charge. Call 800-346-5484 or visit the EAP website (login MBU) to get started.

Health Advocate

Health Advocate Wellbeing Program

Health Advocate programs will help you explore your path to wellbeing with support and resources for everyone. At the heart of the program is a state-of-the-art digital experience, which includes a website and mobile app.

As a member, you’ll have access to tools and resources that inspire behavior change, motivate skill-building, and increase self-efficacy. Activities will address many aspects of wellbeing through four pillars — Be Connected, Be Well, Be Balanced, and Be Successful — and will include:

  • Personal Health Profile: a comprehensive risk assessment to help uncover health and wellbeing needs
  • Personal Pathfinder: a survey to help members determine their personal path to wellbeing and assess their priorities
  • Personal Pathways: to guide members in developing goals to build healthy habits, learn new skills, and increase self-efficacy
  • Workshops: to provide educational content and experiences to increase members’ wellbeing knowledge
  • Challenges and Trackers: to give members a jump-start on healthy changes to monitor their progress
  • Learning Center: an extensive library with thousands of articles, videos, recipes, meal plans, and wellbeing benefits provide helpful content anytime, anywhere.

MBU members can also be rewarded for participating. Per quarter, full-time benefit-enrolled employees and spouses can strive for a total of 100 points, for a max reward of $75 (employee-only participation) or $150 (employee and spouse participation).*

Members can also qualify for earnings to redeem on Health Advocate’s Rewards Mall for a variety of e-gift cards, fitness gear, and other health-centered merchandise.

*Benefit eligible employees and spouses who are not enrolled in the health plan are encouraged to participate, but will not receive an incentive.
