The Mary Baldwin University Writing Center is dedicated to providing unwavering support to students at all levels, in all programs, and across all campuses. Our compassionate tutors bring a wealth of knowledge from diverse backgrounds and possess extensive experience in various types of academic writing, including lab reports, research papers, and MA theses. We understand that navigating the intricacies of documentation styles required for college-level writing assignments can be challenging, but rest assured, our tutors are here to guide you every step of the way.

Located on the first floor of the Grafton Library, within the Center for Student Success, the Writing Center serves as a nurturing space where you can receive the personalized assistance you need. Our tutorials typically last one hour, but we are more than willing to accommodate your specific needs by arranging shorter or longer sessions, as well as recurring weekly appointments. Your success is our top priority, and we are committed to empowering you on your writing journey.

At the Subject Tutoring Program, we take immense pride in our diverse and accomplished group of tutors, encompassing a wide range of majors and minors. They are here to provide you with content comprehension assistance, empowering you to excel in your academic journey.

Whether you’re preparing for tests, working on research papers, or tackling class projects, our tutors are dedicated to helping you succeed. Their expertise spans various subject areas, ensuring you receive the guidance you need for all your courses.

For mathematics assistance, our math tutors leverage the valuable resources provided by the Center for Student Success in collaboration with the Q Center. They are well-equipped to assist you in any math course offered at Mary Baldwin University, be it College Algebra, Precalculus with Trigonometry, or Analytic Geometry. You can conveniently access tutorials at the Center for Student Success, located on the first floor of the Grafton Library on Mary Baldwin University’s Staunton campus. Additionally, we offer teleconference sessions for MBU Online and eligible commuter students.

Health Sciences Graduate Tutoring

Health Sciences Graduate Tutoring

For students at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, we offer the Graduate Tutoring program. Located on the MDCHS campus, this state-of-the-art facility provides faculty-recommended tutors who assist students in navigating courses that prepare them for careers in the Health Sciences fields. Additionally, graduate students can receive peer tutoring for selected courses and writing assistance for all MDCHS programs. 

About Health Sciences Graduate Tutoring 
Addressing study habits or content issues early in the semester leads to greater success. 

  • Only students with permission from their instructors or program directors are eligible for tutoring services 
  • Tutoring session attendance is recorded.
  • Tutoring sessions can range from thirty minutes to two hours and are held on the MDCHS campus. Most students meet their tutors for a total of two hours per week.
  • Graduate Student Tutoring is free of charge.

Once you have obtained permission to meet with a tutor, you can schedule your sessions through TutorTrac.
