Guaranteed Admission for Virginia Community College Students
MBU’s Guaranteed Admissions Agreement promises that students who graduate with an associate’s degree from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 may obtain guaranteed admission to Mary Baldwin University.
Acceptance in some degree programs at MBU is competitive; thus, guaranteed admission into MBU does not necessarily guarantee admission to these programs without further acceptance by the program or department offering the program.
If you’re interested in applying under the Guaranteed Admission Agreement, please complete the GAA Letter of Intent and submit it to your community college counselor.

Transfer Applicant FAQs
To give you a rough idea of what may or may not transfer, a transcript evaluation can be completed by our admissions transfer coordinator. The final decision is made by the registrar’s office. Faculty determine applicability of transfer courses to MBU majors and minors.
Courses are transferable as long as the credit is earned at regionally-accredited colleges and passed with a C- or better. The courses must be generally comparable with the Mary Baldwin curriculum, but they do not have to be identical to courses in our catalog. Transfer coursework may apply to majors, minors, certification, general education requirements, or general electives.
No. Just the credit transfers, not the grade.
A student’s class standing is determined at the beginning of each semester and will not be changed during that semester. Official transcripts from other institutions must be received by the Office of Admissions in order for the Office of the Registrar to transfer credit to the student’s Mary Baldwin transcript.
