Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Social Work

Position Summary:

Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences at Mary Baldwin University invites applications for the Assistant/ Associate / Full Professor of Social Work position beginning with an anticipated start date of July 2027.

We seek an experienced, dynamic social work educator to join the founding faculty team as we launch our new online MSW program. This position will teach, advise students, and play a major role in developing new courses, program processes, and policies. We currently have CSWE “pre-candidacy” status, with a first cohort starting in Spring 2027 as we roll out an innovative, “high touch”, student-centered, relationally based online learning approach to preparing outstanding advanced generalist social workers. The ideal candidate will enjoy the creative work of program development and will have a strong commitment to engaging and supporting the success of students from diverse backgrounds while strengthening meaningful connections with our broader practice community. This position is a full-time, renewable, 12-month position (no institutional tenure system) in Mary Baldwin University’s thriving Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, serving the beautiful Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience teaching at the MSW level
• 3+ years of post-MSW practice experience
• Expertise to teach Advanced Generalist practice courses in selected areas
• Earned MSW from A CSWE accredited program

Preferred Qualifications

• Curriculum and course development experience
• PhD/DSW

Salary range is $65,000 – $75,000
