E-Resources and Discovery Librarian
Position Summary:
Mary Baldwin University is currently seeking applicants for the position of E-Resources and Discovery Librarian in the Martha S. Grafton Library. The Martha S. Grafton Library of Mary Baldwin University fosters academic success by providing information resources, learner-centered services and experiences, and welcoming spaces that facilitate lifelong learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Position Summary
- This position coordinates interlibrary loan services and provides research discovery and assistance to students and faculty across all programs.
- This position facilitates the curation, maintenance, and promotion of e-resources, including the management of the library’s website through Libguides.
- The Librarian will connect partners and resources across the institution and beyond in the exploration of academic and creative scholarship, including the use of OER and digital archives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person and virtual reference assistance and provide instruction in how to find, critically evaluate, and effectively use a variety of information sources.
- Coordinate the borrowing and lending of materials using the OCLC WorldShare system. Explore, recommend, and implement new resource sharing initiatives to improve customer service.
- Manage access to e-resources, including within the library’s website, and resolve issues locally and with database vendors. Collect usage statistics on a regular basis.
- Participate with other library staff in ongoing collection evaluation.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports in support of demand-driven collection development and resource sharing.
- Continue to develop professionally through active participation in professional associations and through other interdisciplinary activities.
Physical Requirements
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library/Information Science or a related advanced degree.
- Fluency managing e-resources.
- Demonstrated reference and teaching experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience supporting digital scholarship in a library or research setting preferred.
