Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences at Mary Baldwin University invites applications for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program Director position beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.
The Program Director provides academic leadership, strategic oversight, and operational management for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program. As this is a new program, the Director plays a central role in curriculum creation, accreditation readiness, interprofessional collaboration, faculty development, and ensuring high-quality, student-centered learning experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or related doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
- Be a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Be eligible for or hold an active Virginia RN and APRN license (or compact eligibility)
- Have at least 3–5 years of clinical experience in psychiatric-mental health across the lifespan.
- Demonstrate a record of excellence in academic leadership, graduate teaching, curriculum development, and online/hybrid education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing or launching a new academic nursing program
- Familiarity with CCNE accreditation processes, including systematic program evaluation
- Experience in interprofessional education or integrated behavioral health settings
- Prior experience coordinating clinical placements and managing preceptor relationships
- Experience wit online/hybrid graduate teaching and learning technologies
- Proficiency in a learning management system (Canvas preferred)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
