Alumnae Recognized for Achievements

Three Mary Baldwin University alumnae were recently recognized for excelling in their fields.

leecy headshotThe Board of Directors for Shenandoah Valley Educational Television Corporation (WVPT Public Media) has announced that Melissa Leecy ’96, who had served as major gifts officer at the station and previously at Mary Baldwin, will become vice president of development. In this role Leecy will focus on WVPT’s increasing level of community engagement activity as well as communications and development advancement. The Penn Laird native also has a degree from James Madison University and more than 15 years of experience in working within programming, supervision, and fundraising leadership in nonprofits and higher education. Leecy currently serves as national Philanthropy Day Chair for the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

After serving as its interim leader, Melissa Kinnaird ’95 will head up West Virginia’s Emergency Medical Services. Kinnaird helped lead the health and medical command system response during multiple public health emergencies — including Hurricane Sandy, the 2012 derecho, the 2014 Freedom Industries chemical spill — and for the first Boy Scout Jamboree event in West Virginia. Kinnaird earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration through Mary Baldwin’s Baldwin Online and Adult Programs and a master’s degree in elder care administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.

rexroad headshotKelley Rexroad ’79, founder and principal consultant of Odessa, Florida-based krexconsulting, has been named Human Resources Consultant of the Year for the Tampa Bay area. Rexroad received the award as recognition for her creative approaches and consistently high performance benefitting her client organizations. The Tampa Bay HR Person of the Year Award was developed to celebrate the human resources industry and to recognize those in the profession who exemplify outstanding achievement. In addition to earning her bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin, Rexroad attended graduate school and pursued other studies at the American University and Thunderbird University. Rexroad is also a published author and a sought-after speaker.
