Inspiring Teen Girls in STEM

A group of Mary Baldwin chemistry students participated in the “Lady Cougars STEaM Ahead” program at Stuarts Draft High School on February 18. More than 100 young women in grades 9–12 participated in the event to learn more about careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The Mary Baldwin students talked about studying chemistry, participated in hands-on activities with the high school students, and answered questions. It was the second year that the Mary Baldwin students participated in the event. Associate Professor of Chemistry Peter Ruiz-Haas says they hope to do it again next year.
