Left quad. Right quad. Lunge. Soccer is coming to Mary Baldwin University in April, but not on the field.

Mary Baldwin University Theatre presents Sarah DeLappe’s debut play, The Wolves, a coming-of-age story about an undefeated girls’ high school soccer team. Focusing on their warm-up sessions, the production portrays a group of girls who are stunningly real.

The team’s conversations depict the difficulties of female adolescence, ranging from comments on ugly team uniforms to the Khmer Rouge to their futures at college. The play is at 7:30 p.m. from April 4 to April 7 and at 2 p.m. April 8 in the Fletcher Collins Theatre in Deming Fine Arts Center.

The Wolves features an ensemble cast of Asyra Cunningham, Myra Diehl, Emily Hurst, Dayna Janson, Isabelle McLoone, Shaina Riddle, Rose Rivera, Vivian Ruiz, and Paula Shute. They come together as a team under student director Justin Guidroz.
