The resurgence of Mary Baldwin University’s athletics program continues to build into the winter sports season with the commanding 7-2 start of the MBU women’s basketball team. Having already tallied the highest number of wins since the 2011–12 season, the Fighting Squirrels have averaged an impressive 74.3 points and 45.6 rebounds per game, including winning the Pride, Spirit, Honor, Tournament hosted by Penn State Harrisburg.

“This young team is energetic, focused and disciplined,” said Head Coach Ross James. “Each day they run into practice with a strong work ethic and desire to improve, which makes coaching them a blessing.”

The women’s basketball schedule runs through December and, after the holidays, the Fighting Squirrels’ next home game will be Jan. 2 against N.C. Wesleyan.
