October Events at MBU

Check out events and home games at MBU during the month of October below. Home games for MBU Athletics (regular season) are free to attend for all spectators.

10/1: Women’s Soccer vs. William Peace. Noon. SMA Worth Field.

10/2: Apple Day Graduate Student Mixer. 7:30 p.m. Rose Terrace. Plus a pay-what-you-will performance of Macbeth.

10/3: Opening reception for Hunt Gallery Exhibition Still Have the Sky by Greg Stewart. 4:30–6 p.m. Hunt Gallery, Hunt Dining Hall. Show runs through October 28. Learn more about the artist here.

10/3: Apple Eve, featuring a flag football game at lower athletic field (6:30 p.m.); Apple Eve kickback with a performance by LOE on Tyson’s Terrace (8 p.m.); and a pay-what-you-will performance of Macbeth at Rose Terrace (7:30 p.m.). 

10/4: Apple Day, featuring an apple gleaning trip to the orchard; special brunch in Hunt Dining Hall; carnival at the Student Activities Center (1 p.m.); and Remix the Hymn in Francis Auditorium (7 p.m.).

10/5: Flu Shot Clinic. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Student Activities Center (SAC) ballroom. Get your flu shot on MBU main campus. Free to all students; faculty and staff, please bring your insurance information. First come, first served; no appointments are necessary. 

10/5: Women’s Soccer vs. Salem. 4 p.m. SMA Worth Field.

10/6: Founders Day. 12:15 p.m. Page Terrace (Rain location: First Presbyterian Church). This tradition recognizes MBU’s founders Rufus W. Bailey and Mary Julia Baldwin. It’s also the first time members of the graduating class are invested with their caps and gowns. All are invited to attend.

10/7: VWIL Juniors’ Honor Ceremony. 4 p.m. Kable Courtyard. Part of MBU Family Weekend. 

10/7: MBU Cross Country in the MBU Golden Acorn Invitational. 4:30 p.m. MBU’s Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences campus, Fishersville.

10/7: Class of 2023 Ring Ceremony and Ball. 7 p.m. Blackburn Inn. Part of MBU Family Weekend. 

10/7: Women’s Volleyball vs. N.C. Wesleyan. 7 p.m. Physical Activities Center. Part of MBU Family Weekend.

10/9: Baseball intrasquad scrimmage. 1 p.m. Moxie Field. Part of MBU Family Weekend. 

10/10: Carl Broman Concert: Daniel McGrew, tenor. 7:30 p.m. Francis Auditorium. Program features selections by Brahms, Debussy, Berg, Britten, and Coward. Learn more about the soloist here.

10/10: Movie Night: Encanto. 7:30 p.m. James D. Francis Auditorium. Sponsored by Latines Unides. Part of MBU’s celebration of Latine Heritage Month.

10/11: Women’s Soccer vs. Salem College. 4 p.m. SMA Worth Field. Featuring a special KiDZ Day with free admission for all, Kona Ice truck, gear sales, giveaways, team meet and greet after the game, and on field action
