Cline Holds Higher Education Roundtable

President Jeff Stein was one of five area college presidents who joined 6th District Congressman Ben Cline (R) in Buena Vista on Oct. 16 for his annual higher education roundtable, held at Southern Virginia University.

USA South #FlashbackFriday Features Former Athletic Director

Former Mary Baldwin athletic director, coach, 2023 Hall of Fame inductee, and professor emerita Sharon Spalding was featured on the USA South Athletic Conference website.

Alumna Named Practitioner in Residence at Catawba College 

Dr. Noshua Watson was appointed as Catawba’s Sustainability Executive in Residence for the 2023–24 academic year, helping advance initiatives focused on the intersection of sustainability and business.

She obtained her BA in economics from Mary Baldwin, MA in economics from Stanford University, and MSc and PhD in management strategy at INSEAD.

Alumna Directs Regional Premiere of Confederates

Mosaic Theater Company presents the regional premiere of Confederates, an examination of history, race, and women who stand on the frontlines of freedom. 

MBU alumna Stori Ayers directs this all-new production of the play, written by two-time Tony Award Nominee and MacArthur Fellow Dominique Morisseau. Ayers holds a BA from Mary Baldwin and an MFA in acting from Penn State University.

Alumna Joins University of North Carolina Wilmington as Director Of Marketing

Liza Saunders

Liza Saunders joined UNCW as the first marketing director for the Office of University Relations, helping develop comprehensive communications, marketing, and branding strategies for the university.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and certificate in marketing communications from Mary Baldwin.

Alumna Appointed as Veterinary Medicine Curriculum Administrator

Sarah Lawson will help administer the new doctor of veterinary medicine curriculum for the Cummings School at Tufts University, proposed to start in August 2024.

An Arlington native, she earned a BA in elementary education from Mary Baldwin and a master’s in education, culture, and society from the University of Pennsylvania.

Hernandez Lifts MBU To First Win Of Season

Yefferson Hernandez’s goal in the 89th minute lifted Mary Baldwin to a thrilling 1-0 win over Greensboro in USA South men’s soccer action at SMA Worth Field on Oct. 11.

It was the Squirrels’ first conference win under second-year head coach Felipe Juarez.
