Familiar to many in the MBU community, Dr. Todd Telemeco now steps into a new role as the university’s 11th president. As former vice president and dean of the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, he championed student-centered learning and outcomes, teamwork, and innovation.

“I love this institution and believe deeply in its future,” Telemeco said in a message to the MBU community. “My charge — and my commitment — is to advance all three sectors of MBU: our historic undergraduate campus, our thriving health sciences programs, and our growing online offerings.”

With 20-plus years of professional higher education experience in leadership roles and as a faculty member, Telemeco brings a collaborative approach to leadership focusing on open communication, creative approaches, and thoughtful decisions that will strengthen MBU for generations. Working with offices and departments across the university, he continues to leverage the listening, analysis, and diagnosis he honed as a licensed physical therapist and clinician in problem solving, decision making, and strategic planning.

Outside of his work, Telemeco is a proud husband and father. He and his wife, Anne Marie, are parents to two daughters — Savannah, who is pursuing veterinary school, and Madelyn, a college freshman aspiring to become an occupational therapist. He has coached women’s lacrosse and youth wrestling, and throughout his career he has advanced from instructor to professor to academic leader.

Those experiences, he says, have taught him the importance of teamwork, resilience, and meeting people where they are — lessons that continue to guide his leadership today.

You can get to know Telemeco and his leadership style by tuning into a past episode of the Bluestocking Stories podcast.

In the conversation, recorded while he was leading the college of health sciences, he shares insights into his professional journey, his passion for interprofessional education, and his vision for preparing students to make an impact in their communities.
