Catherine “Cassy” Turner, PT, DPT, PhD
Dr. Turner joined Mary Baldwin University in 2023 after 11 years on faculty at the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). While at UNLV she served as the Academic Review Chair for the department for 5 years and was Co-Director of the College of Fine Arts Clinic for Health and Injury Prevention. Dr. Turner was a longstanding member of the university’s Interprofessional Education and Practice Committee serving as Chair for 2022.
Originally from the U.K. and a former professional dancer, she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, MSPT, DPT, and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from UNLV. Her PhD had an emphasis in Cultural Studies, International Education, and Multicultural Education, resulting in research and service interests in topics related to DEI. Additional research interests include performing arts medicine and injury prevention in dancers, along with prior collaborations related to military medicine, and biomechanics.
Dr. Turner’s clinical practice focuses on orthopaedics and performing arts. Her teaching areas include orthopaedics, applied exercise physiology, therapeutic exercise, psychosocial aspects of healthcare, clinical research, and learning experiences in interprofessional education and practice.
