Christopher Simons, DNAP, CRNA

Assistant Professor, Nurse Anesthesiology Program

Christopher Simons, DNAP, CRNA is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCU Health), where he is a member of the CRNA Liver Transplant Team and serves as a clinical preceptor and advisor for student registered nurse anesthesiologists. He is also an Affiliate Faculty member in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia at Virginia Commonwealth University and an Adjunct Faculty member at Mary Baldwin University. 

Dr. Simons earned his Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as Class President and was recognized with multiple awards for professional excellence, including the Thomas C. Barker Professional Excellence Award and the Agatha Hodgins CRNA Memorial Award. 

His clinical and research interests focus on enhanced recovery after anesthesia, perioperative safety, and anesthesia considerations for liver transplantation. He has published on the safety and efficacy of peripherally administered norepinephrine and has developed multiple institutional policies and guidelines, including the Peripheral Norepinephrine Policy and the Standardized Handoff Procedure for Transplant ICU Admissions. An active leader in the profession, Dr. Simons currently serves as Vice President of the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists (VANA). He is a frequent presenter at national and regional conferences and remains committed to advancing education, research, and clinical excellence in anesthesia care.
