Commencement 2024

MBU’s graduation weekend celebrates the Class of 2024 and all their accomplishments. The university will hold two Commencement ceremonies:

May 18: Graduate Ceremony

• MBU will hold Commencement for graduate students at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18.
• This includes: all Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences graduates; RN to BSN graduates; and MBA, MAT, MEd, MS, MLitt, and MFA graduates.
• Updated location: The graduate ceremony on Saturday will be held at the rain location, Cameron Hall, Virginia Military Institute, in Lexington.

May 19: Undergraduate Ceremony

• The ceremony for undergraduate students will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 19.
• This includes: all BA, BS, and BSW graduates.
• Updated location: The undergraduate ceremony on Sunday will be held on Page Terrace on the Staunton campus.

Location

Ceremony location: Commencement will be held on Page Terrace, in front of Grafton Library on the Staunton campus.

Guest seating: There will be unlimited, open seating for guests on Hunt Hill. It’s recommended that guests bring a picnic blanket if they’d like to sit on the hill.

Accessible seating: The accessible seating section is full for Sunday’s ceremony. Those who reserved passes can pick them up at the hospitality tent near Pearce Science Center. You may drop guests off in the Grafton Parking lot beside Pearce to use the elevator. Volunteers will be on hand to assist.

Livestream on campus: Guests may also view the livestream from Francis Auditorium on campus.

Graduate check-in: Graduates should go to Hunt Dining Hall to check in and line up.

Rain Location

In case of severe inclement weather, the rain location is at Cameron Hall* at Virginia Military Institute: 401 N. Main Street in Lexington. Get directions on Google maps here.

If Commencement moves to the rain location, the ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m.

If the rain location will be used on Saturday or Sunday, graduating students will receive notification via text (sent through the BAM messaging system) and MBU email. A notification will also be posted on the MBU website. The timing for these communications will be at approximately 6:30 a.m. on the morning of the ceremony.
