GRADUATE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Overview
Mary Baldwin University currently has a position available for a Housekeeper. This
position provides general cleaning services and is a full-time position with benefits.The graduate assistant athletic communications director reports directly to the Sports Information Director, who is the person responsible for all aspects of promoting a competitive NCAA Division III athletics program. This includes, but is not limited to, game management, website maintenance, social media posts, accurate recordkeeping, streaming production of home contests, adherence to NCAA Division III rules and regulations, and other general administrative duties as assigned.
The graduate assistant athletic communications director will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of both the college and its Athletic program as well as adherence to departmental, university, USA South Athletic Conference and NCAA policies and procedures. The athletic communications staff members will be evaluated for the extent to which they are contributing to a positive meaningful educational experience for student-athletes leading to their graduation and the extent to which they have established a sport culture in which he/she is viewed by the student-athlete(s) as a mentor, educator and role model.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to: serving as the lead administrator/head coach when the sports information director is unavailable; game preparation; assist with athletic department events; working closely with other department coaches and administrators responsible for rules compliance, media relations, etc., to ensure the highest quality program possible for the student-athletes; other duties as assigned.
NCAA Rules Compliance: The graduate assistant athletic communications director will be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NCAA Division III rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the program.
Responsibilities
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree. Excellent organization and communication skills. Previous athletic communications experience plus an understanding of NCAA Division III Rules Compliance is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and be available to drive team vans when needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: The graduate assistant athletic communications director will have experience within a NCAA Division III intercollegiate program; administrative responsibilities required fiscal management.
Compensation
Aug. 1, 2026, thru May 31, 2027: $5,000 and tuition waiver for 12 graduate credit hours
