As the institution plans to mark a major milestone in 2016–17 — its quartoseptcentennial, the 175th anniversary of its founding in 1842 — Mary Baldwin is launching a $7 million special fundraising initiative. The college is also announcing two major events to celebrate the occasion.
The 175th Anniversary Fund will be the capstone of the Ever Ahead Campaign, fulfilling an $80 million goal as the largest and most successful fundraising effort in our history. It incorporates the Baldwin Fund along with additional fundraising efforts to support crucial initiatives, based on the institution’s strategic plan, Mary Baldwin 2020.
Plans are also underway for several celebratory events to pay homage to the people who have made and continue to make Mary Baldwin exceptional. On August 31, there will be an official Mary Baldwin launch to kick off the 175th anniversary year on the date that the institution officially becomes Mary Baldwin University. On April 20–23, 2017, the university will host an all-alumni homecoming, welcoming alumni from all classes, not just Reunion years.
