Mary Baldwin University announced this month that Mark Journell, commodity manager at Daikin Applied Americas, is the chair-elect for the Advisory Board of Visitors (ABV).
Comprised of accomplished alumni and industry and business leaders, the ABV helps promote the university’s mission, provides counsel to university leadership and the board of trustees, and offers MBU students opportunities for personal development and leadership training.
A native Virginian who was born and raised in Roanoke, Journell has been part of the Daikin team in Verona for more than four years. He also serves as vice president on the executive board at the Woodrow Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center and on the board of directors for the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce. Journell earned a BS in business and an MA in management and leadership from Liberty University. An avid history buff, he also enjoys golf, attending sporting events, and exploring Virginia’s craft breweries and wineries. Mark recently married Andrea Collins, a teacher with Augusta County Schools, and has a 12-year-old stepdaughter, Brenna.
Journell will succeed Linda E. Hershey, retired president of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, as ABV chair next year on July 1, 2019.
