September Events at MBU

8/29–9/3: Fall Welcome Week for undergraduate students across the main campus. 

9/5: Opening reception for Monotypes: One of a Kind by Susan Egbert. 4:30 – 6 p.m. in Hunt Gallery. Exhibition on view through 9/23.

9/11: VWIL 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. 11 a.m. at the Tullidge Residence Hall flagpole (prior to the women’s soccer game). VWIL invites the Staunton police and fire departments to attend.

9/12: Opening reception for Tori Cherry: Recent Work. 4:30–6 p.m. in the Deming Hall Foyer Gallery. Artist talk starts at 5:00 p.m. Exhibition on view through 11/28.

9/15: Annual Day of Thanks, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Page Terrace and the Murphy Deming atrium. Stop by to show your appreciation for MBU’s generous donors! Free pizza for those who write a thank you note or record a video message.

9/23–25: Queen City Mischief and Magic festival in downtown Staunton/MBU@theWharf. Thanks to VWIL for providing parking support for one of the city’s biggest events on all three days. Email communicate@marybaldwin.edu, if you’re interested in volunteering at MBU@theWharf.

9/24: Walk to End Alzheimer’s Greater Augusta, hosted at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences on MBU’s branch campus in Fishersville. Check-in starts at 8 a.m.; opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. More info is available here.

9/25: Sunday Recital Concert, featuring Wanchi, violin, and Aiveen Gallagher, violin. Concert begins at 3 p.m. in Francis Auditorium. Free admission for MBU faculty, staff, and students.

9/29: Lecture by Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar William “Bill” Moseley from Macalester College in Minnesota. He will speak on “Decolonizing African Agriculture: Prioritizing Food Security and Agroecology in African Development.” His talk starts at 7 p.m. in Francis Auditorium. Sponsored by MBU’s PBK Chapter.  

All home games (regular season) are free to attend for all spectators.
