Mary Baldwin Partners With Aramark for Dining Services

Aramark Collegiate Hospitality will replace Chartwells Higher Ed as MBU’s Dining Services Partner over this spring break.

Mary Baldwin University, in partnership with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, is thrilled to introduce “MB Home,” a groundbreaking dining initiative set to transform the culinary landscape for its students, faculty, and staff. Commencing on March 2 with a grand opening after spring break on March 11, MB Home will offer innovative culinary concepts and a refreshed dining ambiance, heralding a new era of campus dining.

The launch of MB Home will be celebrated with a grand Launch Party on March 11 at 11 a.m. in the Lyda B. Hunt Dining Hall. The event promises to showcase the culinary prowess of Aramark’s chefs through specialty stations like Caribbean cuisine and a homemade nut butter and jelly station, alongside swag giveaways to mark the new hospitality era.

“Aramark Collegiate Hospitality is bringing new life to Hunt Dining Hall, the University Cafe, catering, and dining offerings across campus,” said LaRhonda Johnson Horton, interim vice president for student engagement. “I am excited for students, faculty, and staff to experience these changes in real-time and witness the ongoing improvements that Aramark promises to deliver.”

Hunt Dining Hall

Hunt Dining Hall will see a flurry of upgrades, including an expanded Stress-Less Station with custom-made hot dishes and a new pizza oven delivering better quality pizza. The Urban Kitchen offers a variety of international and classic cuisines, alongside The Market, which features an extensive salad bar and made-to-order deli dishes.

In addition to the new food available, the Dining Hall and University Cafe will receive a visual refresh. Digital screens will keep diners informed with real-time menu and nutrition information while new station branding and graphics modernize the dining ambience.

Innovative Cafe Dining Options

MB Home introduces three new offerings to the University Café: Burger + Fries, Blue Ridge Bowl Smoothies, and the Food Lab (featuring innovative culinary creations that blend science and flavor). The Cafe’s existing “We Proudly Serve Starbucks” location will continue its regular operation under Aramark’s management.

New Campus Collaborations

MB Home is teaming up with Crucible Coffee Roasters to launch Baldwin Brews later this semester in the Pearce Science Center. This new coffee offering promises local, freshly-roasted coffee to the MBU community.

Students on campus will benefit from a new mobile ordering partnership. Aramark is replacing the previous mobile ordering platform with GrubHub. This seamless transition ensures reliability, convenience, and efficient service for hungry students on the go.

Catering

Starting the week of March 11, Mary Baldwin University will unveil its brand-new catering website. This renewal of MBU’s catering offerings uses a user-friendly online platform to allow clients to explore a comprehensive catering guide and a dedicated student catering section.

“We are incredibly excited to build our partnership with the Mary Baldwin community. This transition has been highly anticipated from our leadership, culinary, and operations team,” said Laura Thompson, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality’s East Region Vice President of Operations. “We look forward to meeting this community at our launch party, and welcome continued feedback to create a dining program that makes the community proud.”
