Andrew Raridon

Dr. Andrew Raridon (he/him) is a broadly-trained sociologist that studies inequality and activism in the food system. His research examines the social dynamics at the intersection of movements and marketplaces, particularly among young and beginning sustainable farmers in the US. In the classroom, he poses questions that ask students to explore tensions between their individual agency and broader social structures. Dr. Raridon teaches core courses in social science research methodology, criminological theory, race & ethnicity, and environmental justice. Originally from the Midwest, he holds a BA in Anthropology & Sociology from Knox College (Galesburg, IL), a MS in Sociology from Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, OK), and a PhD in Sociology from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN), and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor’s society.
