Connor Koellner
As society continues to evolve, humanity depends an ever increasing amount of energy. Now more than ever, it is pertinent to consider environmental impact when developing new technologies. In order to meet energy demand with environmental sustainability in mind, some researchers have taken inspiration from nature.
Dr. Koellner is an inorganic chemist interested in investigating enzymatic and catalytic processes through the synthesis of biologically motivated metallocomplexes to serve as structural and functional models of enzymatic active sites. Synthetic techniques involve ‘air-free’ practices and depend upon recrystallization techniques to yield pure material. Analytical techniques include routine characterization as well as homogenous catalysis.
