Matthew is an assistant professor for the Exercise Science program at the Murphy Deming College of Health Science at Mary Baldwin University as well as an athletic trainer. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University and his Master of Science in Health and Movement Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Currently, he is completing his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Movement Science at VCU.

Matthew has a diversity of clinical experience having worked with secondary, post-secondary, and professional athletics programs, as well as in performing arts and outpatient settings. He has also served as an athletic training clinical instructor and has undergraduate teaching experience centered around human musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics, motor behaviors, and professional development. His current research focuses on examining how vibrotactile stimulation influences motor behaviors.
