MBU also offers a number of unique, hands-on opportunities for Sports Management minors. Students have the opportunity to work on marketing projects for the York Revolution minor league baseball team and to make guided site visits to the NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB in New York, NY. On campus, they can also manage Fighting Squirrels sports teams to get season-long experience in sports promotion and organization.

Sample Courses
This course gives students in the minor the opportunity to synthesize and reflect on business fundamentals as they relate to sports management. It introduces the student to sports management career opportunities and to sports principles as they apply to management, leadership style, communication, motivation, and entrepreneurship. Students will have the opportunity to examine the fundamental components of sports management through research, investigating such topics as: personnel issues, event and facility management, marketing, promotions, leadership, budgeting, fundraising, ethics, sport law and public relations.
This course introduces students to psychological theories and practices that can be used in sport settings. Emphasis is placed on examining current research and applied methods to address issues including the psychological well-being of athletes and athletic performance enhancement through psychological skills training.
This course focuses on the strategy, development, and execution of sponsorships in sports and live events. Students learn how to evaluate sponsorship assets, pitch to potential partners, develop activation plans, and measure success. The course combines case studies with hands-on projects to prepare students for roles on both the brand and rights-holder side of the sponsorship equation.
