Accepted Online Students Details

Welcome to MBU! We’re excited to have you join our online program. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition and a successful start to your classes. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact us at 540-887-7019 or email admit@marybaldwin.edu.

Step 1: Pay Your Initial Registration Fee

To begin, please pay your initial registration fee using the link in your acceptance email. Once complete, you’ll become eligible to enroll in your desired classes. We will contact your advisor and let them know you have paid your deposit and they will follow up with next steps.

Step 2: Request Official Transcripts

If you have not done so already, please request your official transcripts be sent to MBU. Transcripts can be sent to our office by email to admit@marybaldwin.edu or digitally request them from Parchment, eScrip-Safe, or Clearinghouse, or mailed to:

Mary Baldwin University
Office of Admissions
101 E Frederick Street
Staunton, VA  24401

Step 3: Login to myMBU

Access your myMBU account. This portal provides a wealth of important information, including the academic calendar, billing and account details, course syllabi, forms and documents, your grades, and your schedule (when available). Your myMBU and MBU email username and password (PIN) are the same, and they were sent to you via email to the email address you provided with your application. In case you can’t locate the information, you can call the Office of Information Technology at 540-887-7075 for assistance.

Step 4: Register for Classes

Now it’s time to enroll in your desired courses. Please check your MBU email for communication from your advisor. Your advisor will provide next steps and assist you with registering for classes for the first time. Of course, you are welcome to set up a meeting with your advisor every semester to register for courses if you so choose.

Once the semester begins, you’ll need to reach out to your advisor to add or drop courses. You can drop a course during the first week without any charges, but after that point, there may be fees involved.

Step 5: Order Books

Make sure to order your books early to avoid falling behind in your studies. The required books can be found through the MBU Bookstore. If you’re unsure about the specific books needed, don’t hesitate to contact your instructor.

If you plan to use financial aid funds for purchasing books, email the Student Accounts Office at studentaccounts@marybaldwin.edu to request a book voucher. Please include your ID number in the email. It’s important to complete this step as soon as possible to set up the voucher.

Step 6: Get Ready for Classes!

While you’re waiting for your classes to begin, here are a few important tasks to complete:

  1. File Your FAFSA: Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is essential to determine your financial aid eligibility. It doesn’t have any downsides and won’t affect your credit score. Remember to use MBU’s code, #003723.
  2. Check Your MBU Email: Stay connected with important updates and announcements by regularly checking your MBU Online Gmail account. All correspondence related to your studies will be sent to this email address. We recommend making it a habit to check your inbox frequently, ensuring you don’t miss any important information. Remember to also check your spam folder occasionally to catch any misplaced emails.
  3. Access Online Courses: Our online courses are delivered through Canvas, a user-friendly and intuitive learning management system. Please note that online courses typically become accessible on the first day of classes. If you don’t see your courses listed before the semester begins, there’s no need to worry. Rest assured that you will gain access to your course materials and assignments when the semester officially starts.

We look forward to embarking on this educational journey with you at Mary Baldwin University! Should you have any further questions or require assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 540-887-7019 or admit@marybaldwin.edu .
