The admission requirements for this program include:

- Official transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions are required
- A GPA of 3.0 is required for full admission
- Proof of English proficiency
- No GRE/GMAT required

*The following programs require a Virginia teaching license:
- Areas of emphasis leading to a license endorsement:
- Elementary Education PK-6
- Special Education General Curriculum K-12
- Valid Virginia teaching license in Elementary Education or Middle/Secondary core content areas required
- Special Education General Curriculum Add-On K-6, 6-8, or 6-12
- Valid Virginia teaching license in corresponding Elementary Education or Middle/Secondary core areas required
- Areas of emphasis that can be completed with or without seeking a license endorsement:
- English as a Second Language
- Gifted Education
- Reading Education
- Will accept expired teaching license; must have successfully completed at least three years of full-time teaching before program completion OR be in the process of concluding your third year of full-time teaching during your last semester of the program
You don’t have to be a Virginia resident to complete this degree program and gain a teaching endorsement, but you will be required to comply with all Commonwealth of Virginia competencies, assessments, and Standards of Learning for your area of endorsement.
Students without an initial teaching license may enroll in the following MEd programs, though they do not grant licensure:
- Curriculum and Instruction
- Can also be completed for a certificate
- Leadership Through Authentic Learning
- Can also be completed for a certificate
- Special Education (Non-Licensure)
