The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, and management of student financial aid programs at Mary Baldwin University. This includes the oversight of federal, state, and institutional aid programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing timely delivery of funding and exceptional service to students and families.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the Financial Aid Office, including staff supervision, training, and professional development.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial aid operations.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding financial aid.
- Stay informed about changes in financial aid legislation and policies, and communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Financial Aid Administration:
- Oversee the processing of financial aid applications and awards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and manage financial aid programs, including grants, scholarships, and loans, to support the university’s enrollment goals.
- Student and Family Engagement:
- Provide leadership in financial literacy initiatives and outreach programs to educate students and families about financial aid options and resources.
- Serve as a key point of contact for students and families regarding financial aid inquiries and appeals.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments, including Admissions, Registrar, Advancement, and Business Office, to coordinate financial aid processes and improve student service.
- Prepare reports and analyses for senior leadership to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the financial aid budget, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives.
- Monitor financial aid expenditures and maintain accurate records of all financial aid transactions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial aid administration, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and processes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and foster a positive team environment.
- Proficient in financial aid software and database management.
