Supervisor of Grounds/Campus Support
Mary Baldwin University is seeking a supervisor for the Grounds/Campus Support department. This position supervises the grounds personnel and participates in the more complex grounds maintenance and equipment operation tasks to ensure the perpetual upkeep of University grounds, drives, walks, and parking areas. This position also supervises campus support personnel and participates in the delivering of supplies and equipment and set-ups for campus events. Other duties include training new employees, assigning work, and inspection of completed work to ensure compliance with established standards, ordering parts and maintaining required inventory, as well as assisting in maintaining departmental files.
Requirements:
At least five years of experience in grounds care, with at least two years in supervision. Comprehensive working knowledge of grounds care methods and procedures, materials, tools, and equipment. Chemical application license and certification in horticulture, turf management or related field desired. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid VA Driver’s License and good driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of bodily motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and walking. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Extended periods of standing/walking. Requires ability to operate hand tools and motorized equipment requiring manual dexterity.
